Topic: Chanukah Level: Key Stage Three Unit: Judaism This is a great end of term lesson for the Autumn term. It focuses on the topic of Chanukah and is designed to fit into a Judaism scheme of work. Students are expected to have some prior knowledge of Judaism although this can only be a few lessons. The lesson goes through the history of Chanukah as well as some of the traditions. This is a great way to end term one for students who are studying Religious Studies at A-Level. The quiz presupposes knowledge of the first few topics from Christianity and Ethics but these can easily be changed to suit your scheme of work. There are three fun rounds and three rounds based on what students have learned for their A-Level. Quiz Format Team quiz with students in small Teams Each question is multiple choice and has a one minute timer bar on the slide There are six rounds Each round has ten questions (60 questions total) It should take around an hour to complete (rounds can be removed or added to suit) The Rounds Round 1 - Divine Command Theory Round 2 - Christmas This round tests general knowledge of Christmas with some fun and slightly obscure questions! Round 3 - Bible as a Source of Wisdom Round 4 - Who’s that philosopher? This is a picture round - students have to pick from four possible philosophers for each photo Round 5 - Virtue Theory Round 6 - The Holiday Season Students are given a date and four possible festivals that are celebrated on that date. All the festivals are celebrated in the month of December Answers are included at the end of each round

This is a fun starter activity or plenary for students who are studying the Ethics Unit of A-Level Religious Studies. Students are given one of the six trigger cards. They then have to go around the room and find three of the smaller cards that fit underneath their ‘heading’. The smaller cards contain statements, quotes and key words that relate to each heading. The printed sheet is in order, so the first row relates to the first heading, the second the second etc. A few items could arguably fit under multiple headings. Can be used as a starter or a plenary. I use this as part of a DIRT lesson following a 20 mark essay on Finnis. This is designed for the Eduqas exam board but will suit other A-Level exam boards as well.

Topic: Islam Beliefs Unit: Study of Religion: Islam Exam Board: AQA This is a revision lesson for Islam beliefs. This can be used for revision in either Year 10 or Year 11 of the GCSE course. The lesson focuses on Islam Beliefs only. This is designed for the AQA GCSE but is general enough that it could suit other exam boards as well. This is a quick activity that can be used as a starter or plenary for a lesson on ethical egoism or future revision lessons. Students are given a card that contains either a key word or a definition. They have to find their ‘partner’ (the person with the matching key word/definition). There are six key terms in total all relate to the topic of ethical egoism.

The essay is on Natural Law (Finnis) and forms part of the Ethics unit of A-Level Religious Studies. Included is a model answer and a model plan to help support with DIRT and marking.

Exam Board: AQA Paper: Paper 2A Non-Textual Studies Themes:** A, B, D and E** This is a short revision lesson for GCSE Religious Studies designed to briefly cover content for the Themes Paper. There is a short starter with questions about each theme. There is then one activity for each theme. Theme A: 4 Mark Question Theme B: Research task Theme D: 5 Mark Question Theme E: 12 Mark Planning There is also a quick plenary to finish. Topic: Intuitionism Unit: Ethics Exam Board: Eduqas Marks: 20 Marks This is a great DIRT activity for students who are studying intuitionism. This is a fill the gaps model answer for a 20 mark essay question on intuitionism. The fill the gaps is nice and colourful with space for students to fill in the missing word. Key words have been removed including the names of philosophers, words from quotes and key words. There is a complete model answer included to check answers.
